The cobblestone alleyways of Old Angoulême have a sort of Montmartre feeling to them. Stop off at Place des Halles or Place Francis Louvel, relax with a drink on a terrace and enjoy Angoulême’s gentle lifestyle.

If ever there was a gift from Angoulême to offer friends or family, then it would have to be “Charentaises” (slippers)! As well as being totally up-to-the-minute, they’re also an emblem of Charente.

9. A concert at the Nef
