Gare de la Brive-la-Gaillarde

24h in Brive La Gaillarde

Spend 24h in Brive La Gaillarde with us and discover a 100% "Gaillarde" town! At just 1h south of Limoges, this Corrèze town is easily accessible by the Bordeaux – Lyon and Paris – Toulouse motorways. Ready? Let’s hit the road for a dynamic destination!

Morning

Direction Lake Causse (around 10 km south of Brive), for a fun-filled aquatic activity: stand-up paddle, canoeing, pedal-boating, sailing initiation… And, of course, the rowing centre which hosts international team training groups early and late in the season. Let’s kick off our day with an activity that’ll really wake us up.
Then, let’s continue together by car or motorbike and head into the centre of Brive La Gaillarde.
First stop-off at the 100% gaillarde boutique, aka the Tourist Office, to pick up the map of the town, to get bespoke advice to fit your desires and, while you’re here, why not purchase a few souvenirs.

Lunchtime

Direction the restaurant “Le 4”! Let’s lunch out on the terrace and enjoy the heat of the sun. Duck tartare, seasonal salad, ravioles and… banana & chocolate clafoutis for those who love sweet treats.
The setting is cosy and relaxed, staff friendly and cuisine traditional and refined!

Info:
6 starters / 6 main courses for evening service, with 3 of the mains always on the menu (changed every two weeks)
The Formula which costs less than €15 is valid at lunchtime only.

If you prefer to eat elsewhere than in a restaurant, why not head over to Georges Brassens Hall and discover the vibrantly-coloured, welcoming market where you’re sure to find something to suit your tastes (on Tuesdays, Thursdays and Saturdays).

Afternoon

To aid digestion, let’s go visit the former water tower and take in the panoramic vista over Brive. Next up, we’ll head to the Town Theatre where its 13 archways evoke the 13 arches of the old bridge!

Look around you so you don’t miss out on anything the centre of Brive La Gaillarde offers as you stroll along the narrow streets lined with Renaissance-style houses down to Saint-Martin’s Collegiate Church. Stop off at the Denoix Distillery and taste one of its delicious liqueurs made from walnuts (drink moderately) as well as Brive’s violet mustard which delicately accompanies local dishes.

Now, we’ll take you for a final trip about 20 minutes from Brive. We’re now out in Turenne, a small medieval village (listed as one of France’s Most Beautiful Villages) to admire the rolling landscape from the sky. Watch the sun set from a hot-air balloon, a thrilling experience guaranteed!

Info:
First flight in a hot-air balloon from 1st April to the end of the autumn school holidays 7 days/7.
Tickets on sale all year round.

Training:
Initiation (first flight) and discovery. Flight duration: 1h; total activity duration: 3h

Evening

And, to mark the end of a perfect 24h? Sleeping under a starry sky! We arrive at “Domostella”, the house of stars, just 10 minutes from Turenne, where you will snooze off in a transparent bubble-dome offering pure comfort, pure relaxation for a highly-unusual night!

Info:

Open:
From 20 May to 3 November 2019 daily

Prices:
Night for 2 people max.: €120
Night for 2 people min.: €100

Time for us to leave you so you can enjoy the magic of this place. See you soon for other 24h destinations!
