The Oradour-sur-Glane Memorial Centre presents a historical and documentary exhibition about the massacre which occured on June 10th, 1944, committed by a unit of the SS Das Reich Division, in the context of World War II. Its purpose it to testify, inform and to encourage visitors to think. It is a plea for worldwide peace. The events that occured on June 10th 1944: the people of’Oradour-sur-Glane were slaughtered by a group of approximately 200 waffen SS soldiers. The village was left intact after France was liberated, to show the atrocities committed by the Nazis and to remind us how important it is not to forget. It is a tribute to the 642 victims of a despicable crime.

Open 7 days a week from 9am to 6pm (5pm in winter, 7pm in summer). Last visit one hour before closing time. Closed annually from December 16th to January 31st. Free access to the martyred village via the Memorial Centre. Guided tours are available for groups of over 20 visitors.
