The submarine base, a former bunker, an awe-inspiring metamorphosis!
The submarine base, a strange 42,000 m2 construction, located in the Bassins à Flots district of Bordeaux is a gigantic former bunker, 20 metres high that dates back to the Second World War and was built by the Germans. Down through time it has been used to host temporary exhibitions and concerts and today part of the structure has been transformed into a digital art centre created by Culturespaces and known as Bassins Lumières. This site is similar to the Carrières de Lumières in Provence and the Atelier des Lumières in Paris.
