Domaine Les pentes de Barène
Here there’s no red, no rosé. Daniel and Gaëlle Vergnes focus on dry white with their terraced vineyards, like those found in the mountains. This small 1.5-hectare estate with its 50% baroque signature grape variety, works in a traditional, sustainable way, to produce a wine whose aromas linger on the palate, not in any way aggressive, which marries perfectly with shellfish. A wine with a somewhat out-of-step vintage as it is aged on a fermentation bed to boost its roundness and to reduce sulphur. A wonderful curiosity, well-worth a visit, in an old, renovated barn in the charming fortified village of Pimbo.
