This might be the ideal opportunity for you to discover these exceptional marshland landscapes, the largest wet zone in the West of France with its man-made drainage and waste management system, that's been in place since the 13th century, of gullies, ditches and canals. Make the most of your stay to go for a ride, either by bike or on a "plate", one of the traditional barges.
But beforehand, make way for the race, of course!
- The 10 km P'tit dej’ bio, a race open to all that ends with an organic breakfast.
- The marathon-relay race for two (24 km for the 1st, 18 km for the 2nd).
- The brand new 12 km nature race “Les Passerelles Maraîchines”.
And of course, the Maraisthon!
Coming with the family? Your kids can set off for 500 m, 1 km or 1,5 km, and those who don't want to run can go for an 11 or 15 km walk that will cross the marathon trail and, yum yum, give you two tasting sessions, one at the Auberge de La Sotterie and the other at the Chocolaterie/Brasserie de Coulon.
Everything's been organised to ensure that both runners and supporters respect the natural environment. Check out the Nature Chart for this marathon certified "Sport Responsable" and "Eco Manifestation".
This year the event is celebrating its 10th anniversary. To mark the occasion the organisers are offering musical entertainment and a raffle of all the bibs with 50 exceptional prizes to be won (4-star running weekend in Saint-Jean-de-Luz, eco-friendly cycling weekend in the Marais Poitevin, gift vouchers in starred-restaurants, electric bikes...). Best of all, you're invited to come along in fancy dress: the 12 best outfits will win a magnum of wine or beer from the Marais Poitvein!
